Ruby on Rails Entrepreneur-in-Residence (Labs Division)
Prota Ventures (https://www.protaventures.com) is seeking a Ruby on Rails Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) to join our Labs division. This is a unique, part-time, remote opportunity designed for builders who want to gain venture-building experience as a side hustle while earning direct equity stakes in the IP they help create.
Role Overview
In Prota Labs, we move fast from concept to code. You will act as the lead technical architect for early-stage experiments and internal IP. This role is ideal for a seasoned Rails developer who wants to move beyond just writing code and into the realm of product ownership and venture creation.
Key Responsibilities

Rapid Prototyping: Build and iterate on MVP versions of internal Prota Labs IP using Ruby on Rails with Claude Code.

Architectural Ownership: Set the technical foundation for new ventures, ensuring the code is scalable and maintainable for future growth.

Venture Collaboration: Work closely with the Prota team to validate product-market fit and technical feasibility.
Compensation Structure: The "Equity Bounty" Model
This position is specifically designed as a performance-based side hustle:

Equity Bounties: Compensation is initially delivered in the form of equity or "sweat equity" bounties within the specific Labs IP you are developing.

Cash Upside: If the venture successfully achieves milestone funding (e.g., external seed rounds), the role is designed to transition into a compensated position with competitive cash wages and expanded equity.

Experience: Gain an "inside the room" look at how venture studios ideate, build, and launch startups.
Qualifications

Rails Expert: Deep experience with the Ruby on Rails ecosystem (Hotwire/Turbo experience is a major plus).
